Overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, Battery Spencer was once an active coastal gun battery built during the late 1800’s. Its strategic location helped protect access to the San Francisco Bay during WWI. Deactivated during WII, Battery Spencer now provides, in my opinion, the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge and of San Francisco itself.

The Bryce Canyon hikes are famous for their Hoodoo rock formations (yes, I had to google what hoodoos were). Bryce is about a 4-hour drive from Las Vegas or 1.5-hour drive from Zion National Park, it’s a relatively close park to check out while in the vicinity.
