Batteries to Bluffs Trail – An Urban Hike With Coastal Views

The Batteries to Bluffs Trail is a prime example of why I love San Francisco! This short 2-mile roundtrip nature walk has a mixture of everything, including views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific coastline, historic and explorable abandoned bunkers, coastal views, and to top it off, a small beach.

The best part is the convenience of the location. It’s located right at the border of San Francisco with dedicated parking. As you walk along the trail, the sound of the waves crashing along the cliffs will make you feel like you are hours away from the city.

Taking An Uber or Lyft

Taking an Uber to the trail is a great option. It’s right next to the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, which is a heavily visited tourist destination. It would be rather quick to get a match and with the many parking, lots to make a drop-off and pick up, coordinating is rather easy. It should be relatively cheap as well to get a Uber anywhere within the city.

One thing to note is the lack of shade which could make the trip quite sunny during the day. Often, there could be high winds blowing up the cliffs, so be sure to check the weather beforehand and dress appropriately.
